It's All About Journals

As I promised in my previous blog, I am going to share some early, early journal pages and one of my first homemade journals. That part I am going to do. I had wanted with such high hopes to be able to surprise you with some latest additions. Especially the newest journal I have just begun, but alas, the camera situation remains a little difficult and will be great for an EE story during another blog.

Nevertheless, let's talk about journals and journaling. I have been journaling for ever. I foolishly burned a lot of my journals from my early twenties, not that they were so bad, but they sounded so young and stupid. Which many of us southern belles are when we are in our twenties. Now I wish I had not burned them, for what giggles and laughter would they produce. My advice - think twice before destroying your journaling and you don't have to tell it all in your journal! Laughing out Loud!!!

Journaling is a great way to not only show a road map of one's life journey, but it is a way to express one's thoughts about life, love and all the in betweens. I journal a lot, but am not tied to journaling everyday. Many people do journal everyday. I have friends and a foster sister that have kept journals since grade school.

Your journal can be anything from a spiral notebook to handmade journals. The choices are limitless. As well as what you use to write with, draw and color with within your journal. It is yours, make it what you want it to be.

What you put in your journal is strictly up to you. You may use and have more than one journal at time, a journal for different things. Journaling from your computer is a great way to make quick entries. Just make sure you back up - back up - back up.

Let me share a few of my journal pictures that I drew at the end of a journaling page, a page where I did my journal page in a very elementary picture to describe some emotions I was feeling at that time.

This first picture is just a simple flower I drew at the end of a page. Nothing fancy.

This next picture is a fun face and the words added "Amuck" Some days one feels as if they are running about wildly.

Lastly is a picture of big red lips and a pair of glasses, I added to a couple of pages of some writing I cut out that I enjoyed.

All of these drawings are from journals that I write my conversations to the Lord and other items that I cherish. Cards from friends, pictures drawn by grandson.

I have journals from notes from teachings I have heard, conversations I have with God (I share it all with Him Now), art journals with fun fabrics and papers and findings and cute expressions and lots of pictures and drawings. I also create what I would call altered journals, made from books, where I cut and past and tear and write and color and paint. Several are still not completed, but that's OK, they are apart of my creative work and I add to them as I am inspired.

Here is one of my early hand made journals (or journal cover) that can be used by inserting a spiral journal, when I fill the pages up, I simply take out the filled journal and replace it with a fresh new notebook. It was made from a hard cover book, that I covered in beautiful paper inside and out, the spine is from a piece of fabric scrap that I loved and it complimented the paper and two very beautiful ribbons to hold the notebook in place. So here is the outside and inside of the journal.

This journal I keep on the nightstand by my bed to remind me everyday to create and to write!

Journaling and making journals is a wonderful art, and a great way to express one's self. It is also a great way to heal hurts and wounds.

In upcoming blogs, I will give more information on journals and journaling. We will see what the camera dilemma holds.

Happy journaling! Would love to hear about how and what you journal.

It's such an obvious thing to do... leaving your journal on your nightstand next to your bed to remind you to journal. I think I will do the same. At the moment I collage on a daily basis rather than write because it seems to suit me .... for the time being. Every picture tells a story.
Thanks for leaving a lovely comment on my blog today.
