Random Weekend Happenings

It is hard to believe that we are just weeks away from Thanksgiving and then there is Christmas!!!! I have been lagging behind on my blogs, as life for me is running at too fast. With a couple of unexpected adventures in between. This weekend, went by so fast my head is till spinning - Just where did it go?

Saturday was a day of great emotions from good to bad to just a total breakdown of crying and a small pity party! But no balloons or food to go with it!!!

The highlight of Saturday was when my children and grandchildren dropped by. They were going to all the grandparents’ homes and Tripp decided mine was to be the second visit.

Look at what I found when I opened the door:

How cool is this - A clone Space Ranger from Starwars!!!! Visiting me. I am so glad to see Him. Ohhh that's Tripp!

Not far behind was this fun little fellow in his Pumpkin Hat:
Nothing like being plopped down by the door! Vaiden always has the cutest looks on his face. His expressions are priceless. Here are a couple of better looks at his shirt and cap - Also notice those cool socks he has on.

We had a great visit and took time to make some Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup cookies and sugar cookies. Tripp and I love cooking together in the kitchen. The visit was ohh too fast, but I did get a few pictures of mama and daddy with the boys.

Not sure what Vaiden was going after, don't think he is into all the picture taking his EE enjoys.. . And that is not a witch that is me with my boys! My hair going everywhere - once again a Southern Belle No No.. . . .

This was the highlight of my Saturday. It went downhill from there. As I was doing the cleaning routine, I happened upon what made me sit down and cry! Here's the story.

Several months ago, I came in to find the maintenance man sucking water out of my carpet. The apartment above me had a weird glitch with their ice maker. Instead of making ice, it was making water and the water found its way down the wall to my apartment. It was not until Saturday that I found the water had been soaked up by my antique cookbooks and special food magazines I had collected for the past 30 plus years. Not to mention some of my favorite cookbooks, Death by Chocolate and my prized cookbook written my by bossman/mentor/friend. Pages stuck together - mold had formed on so many of them!

But you know, I probably needed a good cry anyway, and all these molded pages were just the catalyst to make that happen. How silly of me. . . .

My weekend ended with a twist. Christina asked if I would keep the boys while they went to small group. But what I found was a grandson with a new haircut. His aunt was on her way to "clean it up" a bit - My little boy grandson had emerged into a little man - how he has changed over the year!

And I had a chance to capture this priceless moment with Christina and Vaiden

At the end of the weekend, I took a deep breath - thank God for my family and headed off to bed . . and as for the cookbooks, as my relative Scarlett would say - I'll think about that tomorrow!
