Information - Questions - Thoughts - Help!

Today I am catching up loose ends at the office. And winding down for Friday afternoon with grandsons and playing with the Sony. I also hope to get some creative - inspiration - on some projects I have on my "Creative To Do List". Not that my list is creative - the projects are most creative and need some really inspiration to get them ready to present.

As I have been working diligently on my homework for my website, several questions have been coming up and I know I need more information - I have many questions and I have been pouring through lots on information and insights from those much more experienced in websites, blogging, and opening doors to those in the art world, or expanding my world. So here are some questions I am going to just throw our the to ya to see if someone is actually out there listening with teir eyes to what I have been saying - sharing - and if I need to change my ways so to speak! (smile with me now).

1. When one comments on someone's blog or website. Is it not good protocol to respond?
2. What is the protocol of sending an e-mail to a person who you really enjoy their art - website - blog, etc and want to let them know and also to make a connection.
3. Being from the south it seems as if there are not the opportunities to attend other artists workshops with out a great deal of travel expense and with as many online workshops, is there a guideline to what is a reasonable priced online workshop - or is it hit and miss?

You know us southern belles always know that there is a protocol and a "rule" about some of these subjects. Any help anyone can give me will certainly be appreciated.

Also, is there a best practice - protocol in connecting one's website, blog to other places like twitter, facebook, etc?

Oh and one other question (and I am sure there will be more). What is the protocol for asking others to "follow" your blog, visit your website often and signing up for a newsletter, etc?

Ok my fellow colleagues, friends, artists, waiting to hear back from you. Thank you in advance for any assistance you will give me.

No pictures for this one. But I am loving sharing my pictures with you guys. . . . .

Hi EE.
Thanks for coming by my blog a few days ago. Sorry I'm slow in responding. I was looking for an e-mail to answer your questions about my photos and couldn't seem to find one. You can can e-mail me though for more information: LeslieMarsh@mac.com.

I'm no expert on this protocol thing either, but I think it is nice to respond to comments, either on the commenter's blog or in an e-mail. And I think it's fine to e-mail a person whose art you enjoy. As for the price of online workshops, I think they vary and it's up to you to decide if they are worth the price or not.

If you have a facebook account, you can list your blog there under your profile I believe. It's been a while since I did that.

Personally, I think it's difficult to 'ask' someone to follow your blog, as that is a personal preference.

Hope this helps.

Our Leslie is always wise. Trust me my dear, I spent an exciting seven days with her and I know what this great girl is made of.

I also agree it is nice to acknowledge a kind word and email, and I often think it is nice when one has access to a blogger's email in order to send a little note back.

You can add a link with your email to your profile.

I'm glad my last post helped you refocus.
Blogging can be overwhelming to say the least, if you allow it to burden you with chores of having to visit, comment when they comment, and honestly it took me awhile to find some sort of a balance, but I do not always have the time either to post daily or comment immediately, and I had to let go of allowing those self-expectations from becoming a burden on my shoulders.

So, I post when there is something I would love to share, and comment when something really touches me. I don't comment on all the posts my friends do or expect them to comment on all of mine. But when we do it, it is from the heart. That is what matters. And we know it.

And I cannot make anyone read what I write, although we all love getting a comment back acknowledging others felt what we wrote, but the pleasure for me becomes more in the giving than in the receiving. The receiving is totally the Cherry on top of of the ice cream of giving, though :)

PS- I never took any online workshops. All I can tell you is that taking this trip to art camp and being in contact with all those inspiring women was an experience of a lifetime.
