Our Life In Perspective

Perspective - a technique of depicting volumes and spatial relationships on a flat surface. a picture employing this technique, especially one in which it is prominent - a visible scene, especially one extending to a distance; vista: a perspective on the main axis of an estate.

Time - A non-spatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future - The number of years, days, or minutes - One's lifetime - One's period of greatest activity or engagement - A person's experience during a specific period or on a certain occasion: had a good time at the party.

Everyday I am involved with folks looking at how to assist in changing and bettering lives of others in the world of philanthropy. The process of all of our projects is to put the total project in "perspective" a series of tasks. The outcome will bring folks together for them to share their stories and to grow and make their lives - their communities a better place to live and grow.

Last night I begin to wondered if I truly had a perspective on my own life. How I spent my time. Was I aware of those around me professionally and personally. Did I really make good use of my time and how much time and energy did I waste?

We live in a day and age that we get so caught up with Drama of others whom we don't even know and probably will never know - celebrities - folks highlighted in National and World News. We spend countless hours wanting to be in THE KNOW. We begin wasting valuable time, missing many awesome moments in our own lives that are forever lost? Time is irreversible!

So - I would ask you? What about Your Time? Are the seconds - minutes - hours slipping away - What about those wasteful irreversible successions of time? What have you missed because you were so caught up in "the moment".

Take a moment to look at your life over this past week and truly put into perspective - how much of the irreversible successions has been lost with nothing to show for it?

How much time have you spent glued to events that in the long run did not add or benefit you? The OJ Simpson trial - Princess Dianna - Casey Anthony - on and on the list of these type of events very few of us are personally involved or they play a significant role in our lives. Being aware is one thing - spending hours on in watching and talking and posting on Facebook and Twitter, etc - takes away those precious irreversible moments.

Someone shared with me a person on Facebook posted play by play coverage of the trial on Facebook. Hours and hours - days after day of watching the live court case of Casey Anthony. What will these hours spent gain her? What did she miss in her own life that she will never be able to get back?

Television - Internet - Facebook - Twitter, etc have become one of the most important time eaters of our life. They all have a place and all have are good tools if we use them in the perspective of our everyday lives.

How much time is too much time? If it takes away from enjoying a rich and full life filled with those memory moments that can enrich our journey - then that is too much time. If it takes away from those friends - family - doing our job - etc. That is too much time.

I would love to hear from you - Take a moment and e-mail me at ee@twicechosen.net and let me know your story of how you took Perspective on Your Life.
