This post is to share with you the current and future plans for the Women of Worth Initiative and to ask for your help.
For years I have been teaching women to see themselves for who they are and not for whom their circumstances or others see them. Each one of us is a unique and wonderful, individually made. We are not a Barbie in A Box!
The Women of Worth bring classes that address a variety of topics through Art Journaling/Scrapbooking to women in crisis. Art Journaling/Scrapbooking is a healthy tool to Bringing real change to a woman in crisis—by assisting her to look at herself as a vibrant person who does not have to be controlled by circumstances. These classes facilitate powerful physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing and growth for women at various stages of their life.
Classes for 2010 were offered to the clients of the Center for Pregnancy Choices and the Center for Violence Prevention at no charge. Classes were held once a month on a Saturday from 10 to 2 with lunch provided. November’s class was cancelled due to not being able to provide child care. Many of the ladies are not able to participate because they have no one to keep their children. At this time solutions to the child care issue are being addressed.
On December 11th class will include a Christmas lunch for these ladies and their children. Mava Villa from the Pearl Public Library will be sharing all the Library has to offer, we will be doing a creative journaling page the children will be able to participate in as well and to give a glimpse of the upcoming 2011 calendar of classes.
The classes in 2011 will be available twice a month – one during the week and one on Saturday. Classes will not only include art journaling/scrapbooking but will also include health-wellness/asset-wealth building/education opportunities and community awareness. Invitations will be sent to the area churches to the ladies who would like to participate.

How can you help? I need your assistance in sponsoring the December class/Christmas lunch.
Secondly I am asking for you to become a 2011 lead sponsor for the 2011 classes to help offset the cost of supplies and lunches and as the issues of child care are address, fees for child care workers will be needed.
