Women of Worth Art Journaling/Scrapbooking Classes

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I am going to make this a quick note - as I am up to my nose in work this week.

The September Women of Worth Art Journaling Class was awesome! The class was taking the composition book - the ones you can get for around $1.00 and turning them into a treasured art journal with such wonderful healing properties as each lady worked on their book.

We had room for 20 - 10 signed up for the class and approximately 5 actually came to the class. I will shortly post a more detailed overview of the class with pictures. So stay tuned for this.

The next 3 classes have been scheduled for October 30th, November 13th and December 11th. One of the local Churches has graciously given us space to hold the classes and will give us space to also offer child care to those ladies who do not have anyone to take care of their children.

Last month I put out a request for those awesome artist I follow their blogs to send to me hints and wisdom on art - journaling - etc. I also ask for them to donate a piece of art for these ladies to receive! Well, I was so overwhelmed when several artists from different parts of the country sent supplies, wonderful art journals and pieces of their art. WOW! Not only was I speechless, but I knew there was such a unspoken bond with those who love to create and blog!! I give each one of you a standing ovation!!! Thank you Vee - Thank you Lynne - Thank you Seth!

I am so grateful to Ivye Allen, CEO and President of The Foundation for the Mid South for housing the Women of Worth as Donor Advised Fund in order to keep contributions and expenses accountable for. Please take time to look at the Foundation's website to see the awesome work for the past 20 years the Foundation has done in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi!

Contributions can always be made through the Foundation for the Mid South to assist us in buying supplies and providing lunch for these ladies. Also, if you would like to join us in providing treasures from your art room/studio please do not hesitate a moment to do so! These ladies are so well worth pouring into their lives!

The October Class will be held on October 30th - This is going to be a great class that I have termed "Trashy Happy" Art Journals! This class will be consist of taking everyday items anyone has - the empty cereal box, oatmeal boxes and the circulars out of the mailbox, even those little cards that fall out of magazines - and making delicious art journals! My living room right now is covered with bits and pieces of these items that I have already applied gesso to give a step by step lesson on how to! Also this class will be dealing with writing about "me". Looking into yourself and writing, drawing, adding ephemera. If any of you would like to send me any hints, helpful lessons you have learned along the way, please do not hesitate to send them to me at esandifer@fndmidsouth.org.

The November and December classes are not complete firmed up as far as what is going to be taught, but it will deal with how to put joy in your holidays when you don't feel or want to. Looking at hard time circumstances and finding a positive way to go through holidays. More than likely the art journaling scrapbooking will cover several special ways to give one's creative work to someone else. I will keep you posed on these two classes. Your thoughts and hints on these two classes are also welcomed.

Ok - Back to work and I look forward to hearing from you.
